How to be an activated family and caregiver Workshop – 23 July 2026

R150.00

A four-hour workshop for families and people living with MND
Inspired by the Waiting Room Revolution

Caring for someone with a life-limiting illness can feel overwhelming, isolating, and uncertain. Many families tell us that they wish someone had prepared them earlier — not only for the medical journey, but for the emotional, practical, and relational shifts that come with it.

This four-hour workshop is designed to help families and people living with MND feel more confident, more informed, and more connected, using the compassionate principles of the Waiting Room Revolution. Together, we explore simple skills that help you move from feeling “in the dark” to feeling more “in the know” — able to anticipate what is coming, ask for what you need, and navigate the road ahead with strength and clarity.

What we will explore together

Session 1: In the Dark to In the Know (8:00–9:00)

We begin by gently unpacking why serious illness can feel so confusing, and how becoming “activated” helps reduce fear and uncertainty. You will learn how to recognise reliable information, ask meaningful questions, and understand the bigger picture of the journey ahead.

Session 2: Walk Two Roads (9:00–10:00)

Families often face two experiences at once — the medical road and the emotional road. This session helps you understand both, offering tools to navigate daily decisions while also honouring the emotional realities of living with MND. You will learn language that supports communication, connection, and shared understanding.

Session 3: Anticipate Ripple Effects (10:00–11:00)

Illness affects far more than the body. It touches routines, relationships, finances, identity, and future planning. In this session, we talk openly about these ripple effects so families can prepare with less fear and more clarity. You will learn how to adapt, plan ahead, and access support early.

Session 4: Connect the Dots (11:00–12:00)

In our final hour, we bring everything together. You’ll learn how to connect medical care, personal values, family conversations, and practical planning into a single, compassionate approach. This is where you begin to shape a care journey that reflects what truly matters to you and your loved one.

Who this workshop is for

This workshop is created especially for families, caregivers, and people living with MND who want to feel more prepared and supported.
You do not need medical training — only the desire to feel more grounded, more informed, and less alone.

Our intention

We aim to create a safe, gentle learning space where families can ask questions, gain confidence, and feel empowered to take the next step with courage and dignity.
